Not only is everyone welcome at Beloved, everyone is invited into full participation in the life of the community (including leadership). It’s a small Open and Affirming congregation that treasures its diversity in terms of race, age, ability status, sexual orientation and gender identification, and socioeconomic status. There’s a true concern for justice and genuine human engagement – it is preached from the pulpit and lived out in the daily activities of the congregation. The people and leadership of this church really mean it when they claim to celebrate all people as precious children of God. It’s also a part of the UCC, the first mainline denomination to ordain openly gay and lesbian people.
