This church is very modern in many aspects; however, has NO tolerance of the LGBT community whatsoever. If you are even an ally, I would not recommend it. Their motto is “Loving God. Loving People.” but honestly, it should be “Loving God. Loving straight People” because there is no love for the LGBT community.
Pastor Dave Baker of Lakeland Vineyard responded:
I’m sorry that your patron felt we deserved a rating of 1 and felt that our Mission Statement was misleading. Now, I realize that our perspectives are going to be different, but that doesn’t mean our Mission Statement is incorrect.
In fact, I’d like to use your quote from Cassandra Duffy,* that agree with very much, to indicate that we’re constantly attempting to fulfill our Mission Statement.
It’s through Loving God that we understand “the beauty of standing up for our rights,” which are outlined in His eternal Word that will never pass away. Then as we stand up for these rights, which He has provided through the life, death and resurrection of His Son (Jesus), that “others will see us standing (according to the Truth, which we find by having a personal love relationship with Him) and they will want to “stand up (by experiencing this same love relationship with Christ) as well.” That’s really what Loving God and Loving People is all about.
Thanks for letting me explain what we’re about and what we’re attempting to do.
