Seastar Swim Academy is dedicated to teaching individuals to swim confidently and safely.
Owner Nick is an American Red Cross certified swim instructor who offers a unique skill set that focuses on safety and utilizes his more than 15 years of behavioral training experience. Spending time in and around the water has always been an important part of his life and is something he wants to share with everyone.
Nick’s behavioral experience comes from his time training dolphins, whales, sea lions and many other aquatic animals at SeaWorld, Discovery Cove and the Florida aquarium. His lifetime around the water and his professional experience are the driving force of his belief that people of all ages should be equipped with the necessary skills to enjoy swimming and water activities in the safest way possible.
Nick and his husband Matt are happy to share their downtown Orlando pool, which is set up perfectly to teach anyone in a comfortable, clean, private setting. The pool is a heated salt water system so your eyes will not burn and the soft water is easy on skin and hair. The lake and dock are utilized in some swim lessons and are used to teach important safety topics around the water. His approach uses gentle, effective, fun approximations that build confidence and give swimmers the knowledge of how to safely swim in and exit the water. Parents are expected to stay engaged during the lesson to assist in encouraging and motivating students. Whether you are a 6 month old or a 30 year old, Nick has the skills and patience to help achieve your goals!
With the support of local foundations and the city of Orlando, Seastar Swim Academy is able to offer scholarships to families who would not otherwise be able to afford quality swim lessons. Nick was wonderful with my kids. I have an 8,6 and 4 year old all at different swim levels. His lessons were fun and my kids were engaged the whole time. With his praise and positive reinforcement all my kids gained confidence in the water and couldn’t wait for their next lesson. Thank you Seastar Swim Academy!
I am an adult, gay male who has wanted to learn to swim for many years. I have, though, always felt apprehensive about even being in the water.
I also tend to be a bit shy and am easily embarrassed so I would never have made an attempt to learn to swim in a public arena.
Private lessons at Seastar Swim Academy have proven the perfect venue for me to learn.
From the moment I met my instructor, Nick, he put me completely at ease and helped me to find the confidence which I needed to begin swimming.
His patience, caring attitude and teaching style have taken me, in only two lessons, from being fearful to even put my face under water to actually enjoying swimming!
I am beyond surprised at my progress and at the enjoyment which I am finding during my daily pool practice where I apply the lessons Nick taught.
I am certain, whether seeking a personal instructor or one to teach the fundamentals of swimming to children, Nick’s professional training style and warm and engaging personality will exceed every hope and expectation!
