The Good: An Open Door

The Good: An Open Door

The horrific attacks this week in Orlando have all of us in a state of uncertainty. Uncertain about our feelings – anger, sadness, fear, confusion. No matter the feeling, however, it’s those who open their arms and their doors that bring us a feeling of unity and warmth.

I heard a story this week of a local church opening their doors. Sadly, instead of our community welcoming their response many attacked them for their past stance on LGBT rights. For me, I’d rather take their newly open doors as an opportunity to showcase our incredible community and provide them the opportunity to change, rather then hold them accountable for their past actions. We all grow and change, maybe this is their opportunity to change.

So when I saw this story of a local restaurant group opening their doors and fundraising for the victims of the attack, after so many days of sadness I smiled. As a known religious-based restaurant group many were shocked to see their support. I welcome their support, hope it’s genuine and respond to their open doors – with open arms. Check out who we are talking about here.
